God’s providential moves all over life, even in the darkest moments!
“Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own;
it is not for them to direct their steps.” Jeremiah 10:23
Lesson #1 in our life is this –God is in control of all including our lives, not us.
Bible says, “our lives are not our own and it is not for us to direct our steps. Bible teaches God’s general providence over the creation and His special providence over His own. God is the God of History. History is ‘His-story’. You and I do not control the affairs, nations and governments do not control affairs, Satan do not control the affairs. God does!
Bible says, “The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.” (Psalm 103:19). Prophet Jeremiah fully believed in the providence of God. David believed in the providence of God. Solomon believed in the providence of God. God’s providential hand was upon Moses’s life. Many other faith giants of the Bible clearly understood and believed in the providence of God. Only when we come to terms with this basic spiritual lesson #101, we can rest peacefully in our trials and problems. Jesus said “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.” (Matthew 10:29). This huge and giant machine called the universe is running effectively with no issues and problems only because of God’s general providence over all of His creation. Earth is spinning all the time on its axis, seasons- spring, summer, fall, winter- comes in their own appointed times because He carefully controls all.
In today’s passage, the Bible says, our lives are not our own. It is not for us to direct our steps. There is God’s providence over all the people. Then there is God’s special providence over His own. Psalm 37:23 says, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Proverbs 16:9 says, “We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.”
Child of God, did you come to terms with this basic lesson yet? It is the providence of God that directs your steps every day, every hour, and even every minute of your life. He directs your steps because He is intimately interested in your life and he has a purpose for your life. You are custom-made for His unique purpose.
The Lord decreed David will be the king of Israel. But he had to go through severe trials before God fulfilled His decree. Even in the darkest hours of David’s life, away from the loved ones, in the wilderness, hiding in caves by facing the jealousy of Saul (because Saul knew David is going to get his job one day and he constantly tried to kill him), God was actively involved in His life with His providence. David went down from very famous to nobody, lost all his reputation, his name was slandered all over the city by people, more than that his faith was going to be tested so severely in those dark moments of his life. But David understood the providence of God in his life and this understanding lesson #1 helped him to respond correctly in full submission to Lord on those severe testing times in his life. He found peace, rest, and quietness in the providence of God. God challenged and stretched David to go farther down on the road to use his experiences and words to become words of God (book of psalms) throughout the His story.
Remember, your life is not your own. It is not for you to direct your steps either. Do you know God is moving his providential plans and care even in your darkest moments of life? His providential hand is all over your life and He perfectly knows what He is doing now in your life though it may not make sense to you and He will accomplish His purpose. Full surrender is the key to cooperate with God’s providential supernatural moves.
Beloved, do you have a moment to pray? Let us pray.
“Father in heaven, I know you are the providential and sovereign God who controls all things of this universe. I also believe my life is not my own and I know you direct my steps. Lord, I believe Jesus Christ as my savior who died, buried, and risen again for my sins. I trust in your good and perfect plan for me. I find rest and peace in you today. I surrender my life to your plans and purposes. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
