The Source Of Peace and Fearlessness!
Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.
The world is without peace and in the grip of fear these days. Peace is not a commodity you can buy from superstores or convenience stores. Your peace of mind is not humanly generated. It has never been and it is not now and it will never be. Your peace is linked to your relationship with the prince of peace. The prince of peace and the source of peace is a person, the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
Jesus also said and it is recorded in John 14:27, ‘ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
You see, peace is absent from the hearts that are fearful about tomorrow and the future. If you know your future is safe and secure, then, there is no need to worry. Worry comes due to the uncertainty of the future. God promises your future is safe and secure, not because of any merit in you, but because God made it safe and secure for you.
First of all, Jesus says He gives his divine peace to you. It is not like the temporary or short-term peace world offers you. It is a lasting peace He gives you even though the world is in chaos and turmoil. In the midst of all the pains this world gives, he protects his heart and mind with his peace. Remember once when Jesus was with the disciples and a fierce storm hit the boat and he was sleeping although the boat was buffeted by waves. Mark 4:35-41. Even chaos, turmoil, and danger all around and inside the boat, he was sleeping in perfect peace in the midst of all. Then when the disciples woke him up, He rebuked the wind and said, “Peace! Be still” The wind ceased and there was a great calm.
Of course, this incident teaches a few things. The most important lesson is this-Jesus Christ is God-man. Fully God and fully man. One hundred percent God and one hundred percent man. Theologians describe this as the hypostatic union. In his humanity, he slept. The incident described there also shows Jesus is fully God. He woke and ordered the wind to stop. In one phrase, “Peace! Be still!” All the chaos ended.
I think there is something else to remember. As God, Jesus is fully in peace in the scary and dangerous times of life. Why should He be afraid because he is God? The creator does not need to be afraid at all because He is the creator and sustainer of all. His peace is not affected by any type of chaos or turmoil.
Beloved, this is the type of peace He promised to give you. It is divine and powerful. Secondly, you do not need to be afraid when you know for sure you are safe and secure. Jesus said as a child of God who accepted Christ as your savior, you are in the hands of the Lord Jesus and in the hands of God the Father. Listen to what Jesus said, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:28-29.
When you think about it the worse and bad thing that could happen to you is your death. However, those who accepted Christ as their savior, have eternal life. Jesus said “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. No one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.”
Beloved if you have eternal life and you shall never perish as Jesus promised, then why do you worry?
Rest assured whatever happens, for a child of God, all of it happens for his ultimate good only. God makes it all for his children’s good ultimately.
Are you a child of God? Bible says in John 1:12, “But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them He (God) gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.”
If you come to Jesus Christ and accept Him as your savior and Lord in a small prayer now, you are now connected to the prince of peace who grants divine and powerful peace inside you, no matter what you are faced with. Moreover, your future is safe and secure because You shall never perish and no one will snatch you out of the hand of Jesus and God the Father. If you are already a child of God, then live in full peace that He grants you. May His grace and peace abide you day in and day out.
“Father in heaven, I need peace in these trying and dangerous days. I need the prince of peace, the Son of God, Jesus in my life. I receive Jesus as my savior now. I believe he died and rose again for me and paid for all of my sins. Please save and grant me your divine peace and security. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.”
