Prepared for the inevitable?
Bible says in James 4:14, “Yet you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow, you are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away”.
Bible reminds us this truth – Life in this earth is short, but life in heaven is long. Bible calls the life of you and me here on earth in these words- a “shadow”, “vapor” and “puff of a smoke”. It informs us the brevity of life here on earth.

Bible also says regarding the time of our death, God alone ultimately makes the determination about the number of days we have in this earth. Just today, one of our church members who was very active and zealous in the activities of my Church went to be with the Lord. She was only 58 years old. It was a heart breaking incident for her husband and children. Bible says, God knows, not only how many days will we live (Psalm 139:16) here, but He also knows the details of each of our days. Job 14:5 informs us God knows the number of months we live here on the planet earth. God is sovereign and all knowledgeable. Bible says in Luke 12:7 about the detailed knowledge of God about us. It says “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” God knows all these details about our life.
When compared to eternity, Bible says our life here on this earth is like a vapor or smoke that appears and vanishes. People usually doesn’t think about eternity here on this earth. Many people are scared about death and not really think it will happen to them. But You see, only fools can continue living without preparing for what is definitly going to happen. Though don’t want to prepare they gets sad and distressed at the funeral service of their dearly loved ones. See, every one gets one life time to prepare for eternity- Rich and poor, celebrities and oridinary people, Black and white, Asian or South Amerian. It does’t matter all get one life time and that is the preparation time for the soon approaching eternity.
Nothing matters at the time of your death when you stand at the door step of eternity. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). What did you do with this statement made by the Son of God? Did you accept God’s gift of forgiveness of sins and eternal life with Him? The only question is what did you do with Jesus Christ, the Sone of God!
Do you want to go to heaven and live wtih God all through out eternity? The other option is going to hell and spend eternity there. There is not a third option. Bible cleary and emphatically informs us this truth. (Luke 16:19-31). You eternal address or destination depends on what did you do with God’s gift of His son, Jesus Christ, who died, buried and risen for your sins.
Sir/Mam, May I humbly ask you this question which definitely is going to affect your life after death? Will you accept Jesus Christ as your savior today? Bible says He died and rose again for all your sins and He is your savior who can safely bring you to heaven at the moment of your death. Jesus said “I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:28). You will be safe and secure in the hands of Jesus Christ on the day of your death, and you will be in heaven in the same moment, when you close your eyes here on this earth.
Our dear friend whose remaining we buried today was a person who believed in Christ as her savior. I know she is in heaven with God today as I write these notes. Do you have this assurance?
If not sure, you can pray like this now to God. “God, I believe you gave your Son so that I can come to heaven and live with you eternally. I accept Jesus as my savior and Lord. Please save me”. If you did this, God assure you that you are granted with everlasting life in heaven today and your name is written in the book of life in heaven and no one will never be able to erase your name or snatch you out of His hands.
Please let me know and I will be so happy to hear from you. Please join a Bible teaching church in your area and study the Bible.
