Jesus cares about your personal problems and struggles. His high-end visions beam it’s light as He solves your problems and struggles.
Crowd gathering around Jesus and Jesus gets into the boat of Simon Peter.
One day people were crowding around Jesus while He was standing near the lake of Gennesaret. This is recorded in the Bible in Luke chapter 5. Jesus saw two boats near the edge of the waters. The fishermen were washing their nets after their full night work of catching fish. Jesus came and got into one of the boats and this boat belonged to Simon who is later called Peter. Jesus asked him to move the boat little bit from the shore so that He can sit in the boat and teach the crowd that was gathering around Him.

When teaching ended, Jesus said to Simon Peter to put his net into the deep water and let it go down deep for a catch. Peter responded and said, ‘Master, we have worked all night and haven’t caught anything’. There was sadness, little bit unbelief possibly, hopelessness and tiredness in his voice for sure. In addition, they almost cleaned the net after last night’s work. But Peter corrected himself and said, ‘because you said so, I would let the net down’. See, Simon is a skilled fisherman and he knew all the details of this lake and the locations of the fish. He was a master fisherman. But He was unable to catch any fish all night. Now he said to Jesus- “because you said so, I will let the net down.”
When they had put the net deep down, they caught so huge number of fish that it was hard to lift the net back up and the net began to break. Peter and his friends were smart. They didn’t want the net to break apart due to huge catch of fish in the net. So, they called their business partners in the other boats to come and help them. They all came and filled two boats full of fish and it says they began to sink into the water due to heavy catch of fish this time. The boat couldn’t hold the heavy weight of all the fish.
Simon Peter and partners were stunned at this miracle
When Peter saw this marvelous and supernatural event, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “I am a sinful man! Go away from me, Lord.” All the companions were astonished at the huge catch of fish they had taken. James and John, the sons of Zebedee were Peter’s partners. They got nothing during the night time and now in the morning they got huge and two boats filled fish. Where were all these fish hiding just last night?
Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” Peter was afraid because He understood Jesus is divine and holy. He knew he was a sinner all along. That is why he said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man.” Whenever people encountered the presence of God, they understood their unworthiness and sin nature more clearly. When Isaiah saw the holiness and glory of God, he said, “Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.” Isaiah 6:5.
Left all and followed the divine high call
Luke 5:11 says, “So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him. Simon Peter, James, and John, all of them pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed Jesus. They became Christ’s disciples from that moment. Jesus called them to be fishers of man for God’s kingdom. What a high and divine calling! They all accomplished great things in this world for God’s kingdom.
Jesus had a better plan for their life.
You see, Jesus Christ had a plan for Peter. Christ’s plan was to change Peter’s profession-from the profession of catching fish to the profession of catching people for Jesus. Peter’s new profession is to catch people for God’s kingdom. This became true about his partners as well.
Jesus entered into Peter’s problem and failure
In order to accomplish this plan, Christ entered into Peter’s own world to make him understand who He is and what He can do in his life. Now Peter understood who Jesus is! Jesus is Lord. He also understood He is a sinner but Jesus is holy and sinless. Peter understood he is an unworthy sinful man and not worthy to be around Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He became afraid. However, Jesus Christ who is God wrapped in flesh, the Son of God, came to give His life as a ransom for sinners so that sinners sin debt to God will be paid in full by his precious and sinless blood and can have loving friendship and fellowship with the living holy God and go to Heaven upon their death to live with Him eternally. In short, sinners can enter into God’s kingdom in and through the person of Christ, by placing their hope, belief, and trust in Jesus Christ. Bible says in Luke 19:6, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Peter understood who he is and who Jesus is.
See, Peter was lost and he knew he is a sinner. He tried all night to catch fish but caught nothing and washing the net in the morning in hopelessness and frustration. Jesus knew Peter, his world, his problem and his heartache and that is why He specifically entered into his boat. Jesus returned a favor back to Peter for allowing Him to teach the crowd from his boat. And Jesus’s favor was a huge and wonderful one, that opened the eyes of Simon Peter. With the huge catch of fish, now he is not worried about how to meet his livelihood.
Your problem becomes His problem and in the midst of your problem, God’s vision becomes more and more clear.
When you allow Jesus to come into his lifeboat, your problem is not a big problem for Him. He is the solution for all your small and big problems. Peter’s problem was fully and completely solved by Jesus. Jesus can solve your problem as well.
But on top of such a great blessings, Peter was called to God’s eternal purpose of not catching fish anymore. He is going to catch people for the Lord. He is going to catch people for the kingdom of God. Jesus said to Peter in Matthew 16:18-19, “I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock, I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”
On the day of Pentecost, this previously timid, shameful and fearful fisherman called Simon Peter stood up and preached a sermon to several thousands of people gather in Jerusalem. This is recorded in Acts 2:14-28. He was not afraid anymore to preach the truth regarding the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, though the then world Empire named Rome and His own Jewish nation and colleagues were enemies to him and the message of the Gospel of Christ. He cited the Old Testament prophecies that were recorded in the Bible and fulfilled in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Then he looked straight at the eyes of the Jews and said this, “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man (Jesus) was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.”
Peter said in his sermon, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.” Because this promise of Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit is for you and your children and for all who are far off –means this promise is for all throughout the world, to all living any- where in the world. He added, “to all whom the Lord our God will call”. A historic number of people –three thousand – repented and got saved with one preaching of Peter. He used the ‘key’ Jesus Promised to him and opened the kingdom of heaven to three thousand people on one preaching on that day.

Your problem is His problem. He will fight for you. You don’t need to. Station yourself firmly in the Lord Jesus. You will see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf.
