The Center of Your Life.
Several things can become the center of your life. Friends, hobbies, money, famiy, career and many other things can take the center of your life.
What is the anchor or center of your life?
All the things I described above are good. But none of these things are strong enough to hold you together when life starts breaking apart. Life breaking apart- you may be thinking that it won’t happen to you, right? Believe me, life is going to break apart one time or couple of times in your life time. What you need is an unshakable anchor in your life that will hold you together in these unexpected and tragic hours.

See, Bible says God is triune God. God is trinity-God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. There are several Bible verses that teach that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are distinct persons and yet each hold the attributes of deity. But at the same time Bible says that there is only one God (Mark 12:29; Malachi 2:10; Deuteronomy 6:4; James 2:19; Isaiah 45:18, Isiah 44:8 etc..). Hence, by taking a holistic approach of the Bible, the Christian theology has always affirmed that the one true God is triune in nature—three co-equal and co-eternal persons in the Godhead. Three distinct persons- God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit- but in essence one. God said in Genesis 1:26-27, “Let us make man in our image”. We can see plural noun and plural pronoun along with singular ‘His’.
God being singular and plural, He made man in His own image in triune and singular nature. Man is one but he has body, soul and spirit.
Outer part- body can touch and feel.
Soul- cannot be seen visibly but has feelings.
Spirit – the innermost part .
When The LORD GOD formed the first man (Adam) of dust from the ground, Bible says in Genesis 2:7 that ” He (The LORD GOD) breathed in to his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” When the LORD created Adam, his body and soul had no life in them until the LORD breathed in to him the breath of life (spirit). Man’s spirit is the life giving part in him. It is the innermost circle of the three. Since your life comes from this inner circle (spirit), it’s the real you.
When you die, body goes to the mud, soul ends, but the spirit goes to the presence of the Lord who gave it in the beginning, provided you’re rightly related to God in and through the Lord Jesus Christ. Bible promises repeatedly that whoever believes in Christ Jesus have eternal life (John 3:15 and 16 and in many other places). Bible says in Ecclesiastes 12:7, “then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.”
Jesus talked about a man who was rich but fool in Luke 12:13-21. The center in this man’s life was his big farm and cultivation. He had so much because his farm gave him much crops. Now he started worrying and he said “What shall I do, I have no place to store all my crops? And he said this is what I will do; I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grains and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many good laid up for many years to come, take your ease, eat, drink and be merry. But God said to him, ‘you fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared? So is the man who lay up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
What Jesus said is this – Yes, a person becomes a fool when he or she think only about this world and what it can offer to him or her and not rich toward God. What is the center of your life? Where is your anchor placed? Is it world and many things of this world? Or are you really rich toward God?
A ship needs an anchor to ride out storms. With the strong anchor that goes deep in to the sea, it won’t be blown off and hit the rocks. When a ship arrives in harbor, still it need an anchor so that it won’t drift away, hit and sank. Bible says in Hebrews 6:13-20, hope in God and in the salvation He provides, is an anchor of your soul and spirit. God is unchanging and His promises are unchanging. In addition, the passage says his unchanging character is interposed with an oath from God. For a person who trust in Christ, his anchor is not in a deep sea, but is in heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ has entered as a forerunner.
Making God the anchor and center of your life is another excellent alternative you have. What do you mean by making God the center of your life? You can give the center of your life to so many things, but you can give the center of your life to God, who created you and knew you even before your birth, who has a wonderful plan for your life. Start seeking God and His plan and purposes for your life. Bible says, God has a specific plan and purpose in your life. Bible says God knew all about you even before your birth (Psalm 139 13-18). God says in Isaiah 49:16, “Behold, I have engraved you in the palm of My hands”. Acts 17:26 says, God determined the exact time of your birth and where you would live and die. Psalm 139:16 says “God saw you before you were born and scheduled each day of your life before you began to breathe. Every day was recorded in His book”.
In verse 17-18 it says, God has precious thoughts about you, HIs thought about you are so vast and numerous. In fact God preplanned every thing about you with precision. In fact Bible also says in Ephesian 1:4, “He (God) chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world”.
Do you know God invites you to spend eternity with Him in heaven? God invites you to come to Him. In fact, Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest….. you shall find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:28-29). God’s plan is to give you rest because God is a loving good and He loves you so much and you are so valuable to Him. Life offer you many choices. But after death there are only two choices. Either heaven or hell.
God lovingly invite you to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Bible says “To all who accepted and believed in Jesus, God gave the right to become His children” John 1:12. Jesus said “I assure you those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death to eternal life” John 5:24. There were two criminals who were hanged with Christ, when Jesus was crucified. One of them abused Jesus with his words and the other one said, “Jesus remember me when You come in your kingdom”. Jesus said to him, truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in paradise. It’s never too late to accept the invitation until you die. Some time people try to procrastinate this most vital invitation because they think they will live for many more years. But the problem is this – you never know the day of your death. Invitation for you to spend eternity with God is still there today, if you call upon Jesus Christ and ask you to save you. He will save you at this very moment and this is how God becomes the center of your life.
You see, God becomes the center of your life, when you invite Jesus Christ to come in to your life. By doing this, you are rightly responding to God’s invitation to spend eternity with Him in heaven.
The old center of your life (whatever that might have been) is now replaced with a new strong center that will be powerful enough to hold you together in unexpected and tragic hours. Even at the time of your death Lord Jesus will hold you. Bible says in Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou are with me.” He will be there with you even at that moment when no one on this earth can help you. Jesus and His angels will take you to Heaven where you will spent your eternity with Him. God invites you today. Hell is not made for humans. Bible says the lake of fire is made for devil and his demons. There is no need for you to go there. God loves you and calls you to come to Him.
When you accept Jesus as your savoir and Lord of your life, by asking Him to come in to your life in prayer, He moves in to the center of your life, in your innermost circle -your spirit. Keep Jesus the center of your life all thru your life…. Every day, every hour, every moment.
When you allow God to move into the center of your life, then you will enjoy peace and joy continuously because you are well connected to all powerful, loving and always providing God. Nothing else can satisfy you like God can. Your inner circle- your spirit, the source of your life, where the LORD GOD breathed the breath of life -will bubble with joy and abundance of life and it will be filled with God’s Holy Spirit, who will produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit -love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
When you allow God to move into the center of your life, you will stop worrying about the future because your future becomes His concern and He already promised He will add all other things you need to your life (Matthew 6:25-32).Bible assures God will give all your needs in Romans 8:32, “He who did not spare His own son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? The emphatic answer is this – Yes He will freely give you all things you need, period!
When God is in the center of your life you can face promotion and demotion without anxiety. Bible says “I know how to live with almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation. For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need” Philippians 4:12.
When you allow God to be the center of your life, you will start seeking Him, His kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Then you will say like Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:7, “But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Knowing more about Christ becomes the center passion of your life.”
When you allow God to be the center of your life, you will start doing what Moses did. Moses chose “rather to endure the ill-treatment with the people of God, than to enjoy the passing pleasure of sin.” Sin has pleasure for a very small season but Bible says it’s very temporary and the consequents of sin will haunt you all through your life. You will count yourself in with the people of God and will become ready to endure the ill-treatment with the people of God.
When you allow God to be the center of your life, you will long for the pure milk which is the Word of God (Bible) like babes long for milk. By studying the Word of God which is Bible, you will start growing spiritually with respect to salvation.
When you allow God to be the center of your life, then you will get a glimpse of God’s plans and purposes for your life. In other words, you will begin to understand God’s assigned work for your life and let me tell you – you will be fully excited about it. You will understand your high calling by the Lord Jesus for His service. Like Paul said in Acts 20:24, “But my life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned to me by the Lord Jesus- the work of telling others the Good News about God’s wonderful kindness and love.” I don’t know your assigned work by the Lord Jesus. But you will begin understanding your unique role in His eternal plan and that will be the most wonderful and heart thrilling assignment for you on this planet earth.
The Lord being the anchor and center of your life, no matter what happens in your personal life or in this world around you, your are safe in the hands of the Lord. The hope in the Lord Jesus and His salvation is an anchor of hope all through our life- a sure and steadfast anchor.
I want to extend an opportunity for you to accept God’s invitation to live with Him in heaven. God invites you to receive Christ as your savior. God sent His only begotten son Christ to die for your sins on the cross. That much God loves you and cared for you. Will you accept Lord Jesus as your savior? If you do that, your name will be written in the book of life. The moment you die you will open your eyes in heaven. You will never never go to hell at the moment you close your eyes here.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, I invite you to come to my heart. I accept you as my savior and Lord. I understand you died for me on the cross for my sins and rose again. Please save me. Amen.
