God revealed and still reveal Himself through the creation around us. Of course, it is a silent confirmation and conviction to the hearts about the truth of the creator God, who created the universe.
Day to day and night to night, it pours out his confirmation to the people with no voice or talk. Silent confirmation of God.
And this is called the general revelation to all people everywhere about the existence of God who created all.
Listen what Bible says in Psalm 19:1-4 regarding general revelation.
“The heavens declare the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their utterances to the end of the world.
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their utterances to the end of the world.
However, God has special revelation revealed in detail about Him. Where do we get it?
It is in the Word of God, in the pages of the Bible. The more you read and understand the Bible, the more you and I well get to know God.
God breathed the knowledge about Him freely through the pages of the Bible to anyone who want to know Him and His plans.
Listen what 2nd Timothy 3:16-17 says,
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
In essence, it says all the pages of the Bible are breathed out of God or inspired by God, so that we can live a God honoring life. How do we live a God honoring life without reading and knowing the Bible? Therefore, it is fundamental to read and study the Bible to know the ways and plans of God.
How did the Bible or Prophecy came into existence? How did the 66 books of Bible is so united in its theme although written over a span of 1500 years by different authors who lived in different times and cultures and did not know each other.
Yet it is one book. How did it happen?
It is the wonder working of God in revealing about Him. This is why it says the Bible is God inspired and God breathed.
Listen what 2 Peter 1:21 says.
“For prophecy (the Word of God in the Bible) never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” Yet they wrote what exactly God want them to write to reveal Him to the world. And it is in our reach to read and know God and His beautiful love, care and plan for us.
The major and final special revelation of God is in the person and work of Jesus Christ. In my teachbible.org I have a logo in the first page that says this,
“To Know the Bible, is to Know God
To Know Christ, is to Know God Personally.”
Listens what the Bible says in Hebrews 1:1-3 about the special revelation of God in the person of Christ Jesus.
“In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”
God after revealing Him through our ancestors and prophets in the past, now in this age, He had finally revealed Himself and talked to us by His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, who sustains all things you and I see by His powerful word. Not only this, but also, he provided forgiveness and purification for sins and sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
Excited to know God? Find Him and know Him through the general revelation. However, find Him and know Him in detail by knowing the Bible and the person and work of Jesus Christ.
